Woodrup

Maurice Woodrup set up business in Leeds in 1947 after learning his trade with Bob Jackson.

He immediately started sponsoring many local riders and in the mid 1960s he sponsored an independent team comprised mainly of 1st category Leeds riders including future Tour de France rider Pete Ryalls.

In the 1970s and 80s, Maurice’s son Steve became the main builder and along with Kevin Sayles built the Viking team frames, and most notably for Barry Hoban when he was a pro rider in France when his bikes were Mercier badged Woodrups.

Nowadays Woodrup Cycles is owned and run by Steve who still races very successfully in both L.V.R.C road races & C.T.T time trials. He is still producing high quality frames to special order
